:( GOt a yellow tang 3 weeks ago and put it in a 12 gallon QT. Had signs of ick but it went away. Now appears to have a white horizonal line running across its body and a dark splotch in the center under its skin. What is wrong? Can all this be cause by malnutrition?

I feed it mysis shrimp and green algea.

Nothing wrong with it, 'cept a little stressed mabye. The white bar running from front to back is the caudal bone and is part of it's anatomy. It will often be more noticable when the fish is stressed or when there is only amibient/dusk lighting. The fish color fades allowing the inards to be more easily seen.

How are the QT water specs?

Cheers
Steve

Ive had my yellow tang for 8 yrs and always seen that on mine. Esp when the lights are off. IMO this is normal

My yellow tang has that line when the lights are off. I just thought it was normal. Mine eats like a pig, so I'm sure that it's not malnutrition.
