Aggressive fish

I have 6 fancy cold water fish and recently I have found the biggest fish has been attacking the 2nd largest fish in the tank, this resulted in the 2nd largest fish (a lion head oranda cross) having all 4 fins chewed up and the back 2 tails being shredded, I have no other option than to get rid of the large fish to prevent this happening again.. Any suggestions before I do so ????

how big is your fish tank? small and cramped space usually leads to aggression. but of course there's also the personality of the fish themselves.
