Almost disaster

My brother in law has a 44 gal tank with shrimp, pleco, platies and hatchetfish. He also has 2 small balas(another story LOL). The pleco has ich. He added coppersafe to the tank! 8O Everything I've read said coppersafe and shrimp do not mix! Also the balas have stopped eating since the addition of the coppersafe. He is doing a water change and adding carbon to the filter as I write this. Does anybody know if 24 hours of this treatment will substantially harm the shrimp, or did we catch it in time? He is starting the heat treatment tonight.

Well a 70% water change is done and the fish are swimming around more already. I'm still a bit worried about the shrimp but only time will tell I guess. Hopefully since it has only been 24 hours everyone will be fine.

Sounds like you caught it quick enough

Unfortanetly, most people instantly think to treat with copper for parasites (ich), and most LFS instantly reccomend it. I'm sure it works real well! But at the expense of some fishes health, and the loss of all inverts.
