Hi! I’ve had my Betta Tilikum for almost 6 months or so, and yesterday I noticed he has a white dot in the middle of his eye. I may be over reacting but I want to make sure I take care of him and do whatever I can to make sure he’s okay. I was away for a few days and my room mate fed him, possibly too much, but again maybe I’m just anxious. He normally comes up to the front of the tank when I come in my room but this time he hid (maybe because I’ve been gone for a few days) and he was hiding a lot in his log and behind the filter/heater area (thats one of his fave places to be since I got him). He seemed lethargic and didn’t seem interested in food and when I inspected him I noticed the white dot on his eye. It’s only apparent when he's in the light and I don’t notice it as much when he’s low in the tank/ away from direct light. I have him an epsom salt bath yesterday for 8 minutes and did about a 20% water change this morning. He also ate last night. I changed his heater position and he seems to be moving around the tank a little more today and more active in general. My main concerns are 1. If it’s ich I want to get rid of it ASAP with medication and temp change but if it’s not ich I worry medicating him for no reason will harm him?
2. If it’s Cataracts? Is there something I can do? I’m unsure of how old he is but I haven’t had him long. I tested ammonia and other perimeters and it all seems fine. I don’t change the water as much as I should and I do have a lot of invasive snails that expel waste. I had two spotted Cory cats in the tank but they didn’t seem happy and one died so I returned the other so he wouldn’t be lonely. I love my Betta and don’t want him to be in pain or die so I’d like some advice thank you!
