Ive tried keeping bettas in a community tank, but they seem to invariably get some sort of white fungus...on parts of the body, and in the male's mouth. I have a male and a female.
Ive tried treating the white stuff, using a hospital tank and all sorts of meds....maroxy, coppersafe, quick ich, melafix, kanacyn (broad spectrum antibiotic), and maracyn plus. Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas? Are they somehow more susceptible to disease in a community tank, even though all the other fish are doing well...not a trace of any problem with any of the other fish. The others are pearl gouramis, platys, harlequin rasbora, clown loaches, black tetras, swordtails.
Thanks.
