Hi everyone, I'm interested in your opinions. I have 1 mature female platy and two younger platys - the female's offspring - gender unknown. The mature female is very bloated and spending a lot of time at the bottom of the tank. She looks in good condition. Is she pregnant or could it be something else?

..I should add I've only recently got these fish. I took them on when a friend gave up her aquarium. I haven't seen a pregnant platy before hence the questions.

Well if she is just round she is likely pregnant. Do her scales look like they are sticking out, in a pinecone fashion? If so, that is bloat and is an illness that needs to be treated. Female livebearers are quite frequently pregnant, so it would not be surprising! I had molly fry the next day after putting them in my tank. 8O

Scales not sticking out, she looks healthy. It'd be great if she produced some little ones. Excellent.
