Catfish with a discoloured tail

My catfish’s tail is discoloured. I noticed it yesterday...I don’t think it’s been like this for long.
I cleaned my tank last weekend, other than that I haven’t done anything differently.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Looks like the beginning of a bacterial infection .
How hard is your water ?
That looks like a Syn. Petricola which prefers hard [African lake ] type water....

Thanks coralbandit. Ill do a water test. They are a few years old and they are so resilient. Not sure what to do for a bacterial infection.
