Chronic Pop Eye

Hey there...

I have a 55 gallon tank with a variety of fish in it, and one of my 3 african cichlids keeps getting pop eye. I've used Mela-Fix to treat him 3 times already in the last few months. Every time I treat the water, his eye heals up in a week or so, and then I do the water change to get rid of the medication and put the filters back in and so on. Then it all happens again a week or 2 later. None of the other fish are sick at all as far as I can tell, and the cichlid that's suffering from pop eye is actually the biggest and I thought healthiest fish of them all. Any suggestions???

I was just reading about pop eye yesterday and since I'm not home, I can't give you that specific link, but there is more than enough info in those links

What are your water parameters?
