Hello, does anyone could give me ab idea how in the world my Corydora woke up one morning with identical red marks on the sides, that look like blood.
He is the only one with that, i am not sure if that is some known issue with pepper Corydoras? Or some other sickness? It is not red blotch for sure though.
Also all my water parameters are within range, in fact im a psycho of keeping my water parameters at perfection, doing my maintenances and filters are perfect.
Also, notice that i have been using the paraca's stones for years as substrate, so this substrate is 100% round for them, not a single scratchy rock on the entire tank. I do not have ornaments and just plants.
They live only with peaceful platys and no one bullys my guys.

Also, his attitude and behavior is normal as usual. He seems to be fine, eating fine and scavenging without problems.
Still i am afraid that this could end up in a infection or get worst. Your help is highly appreciated

I used to get something similar with my false bandit Cory. Honestly idk what it was, but it went away. She’s old, so it could have something to do with that. Maybe yours is still growing, or getting older?

Another reason why this may be happening is because there is something in the water irritating his skin. Corydoras have no scales and are HIGHLY sensitive to aquarium salt and some plant fertilizers.

If you are using these, that’s probably why his skin is like that. It also could be a parasite or one of those weird worm things.

My suggestion is if it gets worse, treat the whole tank with whatever meds you have on hand. How ever, I do suggest you use “microbe-lift Artemis” it’s a natural expellant and I just love it. Also, use “nature’s bounty garlic extract” Ik that sounds weird but the same corydora I was talking about had fin rot and I used both of those things and it was gone in a week [emoji102] I soaked her food in the extract, along with some other vitamins for 15 mins.

Also I would not recommend quarantining your Cory, because they are social fish and NEED the others. Separate him, and he will get stressed out. (But hey you do you lol)

Thank you very much for the advice. Indeed, i had him on watch for the next days and it seems he is recovering by himself . He looks much better now and i am trying to remove anything that could have hurt him . In fact, i dont use fertilizers in water, but only used to use root tabs from seachem, but its been almost a month or more since i have not used it . My nitrates are 25 so i guess that shouldnt be the issue.

The nitrates are lowish so no, that wouldn't.

What about NitrIte and Ammonia? Are you using test strips or liquid test? If strips, I used to use them a long time back for quick checks, in between water changing, and even tested them against the liquid tests periodically to make sure. But one day I lost almost a whole tank of fish because the test result was in the safe range on the test strip, but deadly on the liquid test. It was shocking!

What is the pH?

Hi, yeah, that is a total problem, coz they dont sell liquid tests here or they cost a fortune where i live :(
I only rely on seachem alerts, and constant monitoring for PH and jbl scan strips
Here are some parameters
