filter media for sick tank

Just a question on what to do with filter media AC 50 after treating a sick fish.
Is there a way to sterilize the sponge and bio rings or should I toss them and replace with new. I keep this filter running on one of my tanks to keep it ready if i should need it.

I would rinse them out in hot water and let them dry in the sun for a couple of days. Then you can reuse them.

Toss the media and disinfect the filter housing in a bleach solution. Not worth risking infecting your main tank if you plan on moving the filter back.
