Gold Barb with Odd Gill Growth

This 4 year-old bard has has this mass in its gill get bigger and bigger. It's been there for about a year. It's getting to the point where the poor fish is getting more labored with its repiration. My tank Ph runs a bit on the acidic side, but I correct to 6.8. Ammonia levels are fine.
