I don't think it's fin root. He was picked on at the store I got him at. What do you think would help. In the tank he is with gold barbs, common pleco, Chinese algae eater, and there was a betta. Betta and him for along no fighting. Tank mates get along really well.

Most likely got bullied in the Store aquariums

Doesn't look like it requires any special treatments but you could always dose some melafix if you are worried about an infection

Update:
I have two big gold barb and five small ones. Came home today and the gouromi had red peck marks on him. One of the big gold barbs is preg. And the male got very Territorial. Gouromi is recovering and barbs are in other breeding tank now.
