Noticed this on my male gourami. Was he attacked by another fish or is it a disease/parasite of some sort.

Angelfish two tetras and a plea and some weird catfish lookin thing that stays on the bottom. My sister put him in there. Looks like flesh coming out of it.

I think this may be the culprit

The gourami is eating swimming and everything fine. No other fish are injured or sick looking. That catfish lookin fish is the only new thing. My breeding pair of angels spawned recently to though so could they have done it?

Maybe. Angelfish are aggressive when it comes to their babies. Wait until the experts begin to comment but I'm not really sure if it could've been the angels

Looked kind of big to me to be the angels and the catfish thing doesn't bother any fish that I've seen. He just pokes around and eats stuff on the bottom. My angels are large though

Yeah, angels usually only nip fins but maybe the gourami was bothering them.

I just remembered, it may be a parasite, trust me on this one. It seems unusual for a parasite to only attack ONE of your fish but I promos you this happened to mine before. I had some sort of parasite in my tank and it looked like some sort of bite or injury on the fish's body or fins then later grew fuzz. It started with one of my guppies and a week later spread to the other fish. I thought that my tetra but the guppy but it turned put I was wrong. I would suggest giving water samples and maybe a picture of the gourami to your LFS and thy might prescribe you Melafix or Pimafix, both of which I used for my poor babies. Take action quickly if it's the case. Wait for professional info just in case.

Okay I'll take him out and put him in a bucket with air stone for now. I'm fixin to do air stone water change anyways lol I just don't see any of my other fish biting him but have never seen paarsites really. This would be first issue since I've had tanks

I'd rather be safe then sorry lol. Here's my breeding pair of angels. White one is the male thought he could possibly be big enough if it was a bite. He tends to be super agressive while they are spawning

Better view of the chunk missing on my gourami. He's now in a quarantine just in case.

How are the pair doing now? Sorry, I didn't know you replied because my notifications didn't have it there. Is the male being aggressive to any of the others?

Id lean more that he got too close to the eggs or fry and the angels chased him away and he injured himself on something in the tank.

Oh okay. Would you say he's safe to put back in my community tank. The spot came up within 24 hours. I always keep a close eye on them. He was fine when I went to work and then after work it was there. Not sure of anything in my tank that could've done it other than a fake log.

Updated photos of the gourami. It's like a hole in his side. Nothing in my tank is sharp.

I would still keep him separated till it heals a little more. Just keep the water as clean as you can. I'm not sure if the other fish will pick at it and cause it to open up again.
