Help!!...Neon Tetras surviving, all others dying!

Hello all....

I am needing some help. I have a 30 gallon aquarium that stays around 80 degrees.

I have had Mollies, Guppies, and Neon Tetras. The Neon Tetras are the only ones that have survived. All of the other ones have been dying left and right for the last year. I also have a pleco that has survived.

Does anyone know why my Neons have been able to survive, while the guppies to continue to dwindle away? Any clues?

Thanks from a newbie

Thanks.....Yeah i have tried to get it cooler, but that room stays a little warm with the computers and everything in here. Could that be part of the problem?

The nitrate is high, but i cant seem to get it down much.

Also, I have noticed in the past, but not lately, that some of the fish look very bloated or their back arched down with their tail.

Thanks again.

Sounds like disease. I do not suspect water temp. What are the water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)? Actual numbers will help the most.
I am going to move this to the Unhealthy fish forum and hopefully you will get more help.

Try looking through these sites and see if anything looks like what your fish are suffering from:

How often do you do water changes and vacuum the gravel?

BTW~

welcome to AA i was gonna say neon tetra desise, but i read it again and they are the only ones that survived... so nevermind, maybe it could be temp changes, do you have a heater set up? if not the change in the room temp could be the problem. also where is the tank is it in a place where there is heavy "traffic" if so it could be stress.
