help! weird patch on guppy!

Hi, I was watching my fish this morning to see if any had problems, like I do every morning, and my red Guppy has a weird patch of scales on him that's look slightly raised and whitish, duller in color that the rest. He is acting normally, and my other fish are fine, but I am worried. It doesn't look like Ich, what could it be? Help! I am new to fishkeeping and am worried about my poor fishy.

Can u post a pic. It sounds like dropsy.

I cant post a pic but I have looked dropsy up just barely and it looks like it. However, there is one diference. On my fish, it is only on one part. Does dropsy do that? Or does it always cover the whole body?

That does happen because dropsy is not really a disease itself it is a a symptom of many other diseases. Say if a fish has abdominal swelling, it would cause the scales in that area to stand up for example.

I have him quarintined right now. It dropsy contagious? I haven't noticed ot on any of my other fish, and I have been watching them closely.

Well that depends on th desease that is causing it. What are you treating him with?
