Hospital filter

Is it ok to put the filter from my hospital tank back into my main tank?

It depends on what your hospital tank situation was. If it was for qt & everyone is healthy & well, its fine to move back. If you were treating something serious (such as columnaris) or the fish did not survive & you do not have a definite id on the cause, I would disinfect the filter housing & recycle the media.

I would really trash filter media than has been used in a hospital tank with meds or especially where the fish died.

Soak & scrub the filter housing in a 10% bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts hot water) for at least 15-20mins. Rinse well. Soak in dechlorinated water for 15-20. Allow to airdry (preferably in sun) before reusing. Toss any media & cycle new media by running the filter on your tank again for a couple of weeks. Hope this helps!
