I Have tiny brown bugs in my tank!!!!

a couple of weeks ago i noticed one or two tiny brown bugs hopping about on the gravel in my tank but though nothing of it. then a few days ago i set up another smaller tank with water continuously flowing between the two tanks and now there are a hundred or so of these little browny reddish bugs attached to the sides of the smaller tank!! what on earth are they? is there any sure way to find out what they are and what affect if any they will be having on my fish?
