Hello so I have a 55 gallon fancy gold fish tank everything was beautiful and perfect until Easter, on Easter I noticed these white spots covering my ranchus wen initially thinking it was ick bought ick tablets and did nothing for 2 days after doing multiple treatments with the ick tablets. I would wake up to more and more ick like spots started to spread to my telescope covering his fins so on Tuesday the 14th I woke up went to the store and got API super ick guard did a water change and added 5 sets of 10ml in making my tank all blue. I had taken the filter bags out and let it sit for 48 hours. before I went to bed on the 16th added another set of 5 10ml of super ick guard along with 5 tbsp of salt I had put hot water in to melt the salt before putting into my tank to finish the treatment. At this point my temperature has peaked to 80 degrees F. all my fish look very stressed breaking normal routine functions acting very weird giving me a very depressing vibe fins not looking good. I woke up in the morning to my teliscope looking stiff as can be just breathing and floating with the current it had gotten me spooked that I did a water change immediately about 25%. After the water change he was no longer breathing and I had to take him out and buried him:(. My head is racing on what to do so I called “goldfish island” where I had purchased a yun bao oranda from on the 8th seeking advice from an expert and to kind of call them out on sending me a gold fish with ick on him and to look at my fish pictures. after sending an email he immediately told me I have goldfish fungal disease and that I need a canister filter versus a 75gallon back hanging filter also telling me to purchase the fungal medicine they use which is medichi Green and blue. I had now felt like an idiot for treating for the wrong disease and immediately started to bring the temperature down. Next I called my local fish store “the fish place” seeking advice I was told to come in and chat. So I did that and this guy basically told me was the API furan 2 was the way to go to treat this fungus and that I need to do another 50% water change before adding more medicine. So I did my 50% water change and have been debating since if I want to add the medicine in just yet because I don’t want to add to much of these harmful medicines in so the rest of my 5 fancy gold fish have been cooling ever since In what I’m calling normal water It is the next morning I let them sit in the normal water all night and my water has reached back to normalish temperature of 73.6 ish. Need major advice on what to do! Please help!

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time with these guys. What a run around.

Are the remaining fish doing well now or do they have spots, specs or something wrong. Other than the first pic which looks like the fish is a bit thick towards the back and not sure if it is due to body shape or retaining some fluids, I can't tell what else is wrong.

How long has the tank been set up and how long have these fish been in there?

You mentioned new fish, which fish is/are the new ones?

Are you familiar with the nitrification cycle?
