Injured Fins - Should I Euthanize? - Nevermind

I woke up to find one of my guppies missing. After a search, I found him caught between the sponge I'm using to help cycle and the glass. It wasn't like that before so I'm thinking the 7 yr old was playing with the magnet.

The fish has both of the pectoral fins just sticking out and they look a little worse for wear. He's definitely swimming funny.

I put him in one of those breeder tanks that go in the main tank and float. He's seems okay about it now but was definitely stressing when he first realized he was in it.

Am I doing the right thing? Is there anything else I can do?

If you can zoom in, here is a pic of the fins. They aren't laying down at all.

He's mostly swimming vertical now, mouth at the surface. Should I euthanize him? He doesn't look comfortable. Is this something I can fix?

Would Melafix help? I saw that mentioned on another forum.

Anyone?

ETA - nevermind, he's gone.

Sorry to hear.
But answering your question for the future : Yes melafix will help to heal the fins, plus keeping water clean.

Thank you for responding. I'll keep a bottle on hand in case I ever need it again.
