Now that I am in the process of dousing the microbes in the tank with [strike]napalm[/strike] the entire arsenal, I'm thinking about the new cycle.

What's the best way to get the nitrifying bacteria back?

I've read good things about the Angels filter media, although I haven't checked them out at all. I was also thinking I could use the quarantine tank for a fishless cycle while doing extra water changes for the tanks with fish.

I'm cross posting this question. The more insights the better.

I can hear the maniacal laughter and cries of "Die, DIE!!" out here.

If you don't have a source of existing media you trust, but still want to shorten the cycle time, I'd try Seachem's Stability or Dr. Tim's One and Only.

Treatment period is ended. No deaths in a full week.

I put in the Angels Plus sponges. They are intense. I am so ready to get things back together. I miss being able to sit and watch the fish. Right now everything is in pieces and it's very stressful.

This is how I feel about the Angels Plus sponges.

I never have nitrates, so I'm not worried about that. Plants eat them right up.
