Hi
A few days ago a lump started developing on my goldfish's side and he was scratching against the glass. I added aquarium salt to his tank and he stopped scratching but the lump developed into a white spot. It's the only white spot on his body and it's bigger than a sugar grain so I don't think it's white spot.

My goldfish is the only fish the tank. He's in an 80 litre tank and there are no plants in the tank. He's around 8cm long and he's 1.5 years old. The filter is a carbon sponge filter and the tank is 72×36×36cm. Last time I did a water change was 4 days ago. There's no gravel in his tank. The tank was set up a year ago. I haven't added anything new to the tank recently.
I really need to figure out what this lump/spot is before it really starts to do some damage.

I don’t think the size of the spot means it’s not ich; some spots can be larger. But is it raised? Like on top of a swollen bump. I don’t think ich usually presents that way.

Have you checked water parameters lately. If so what are they? Goldfish are messy, as you likely know, and water parameters issues often cause / exacerbate illness.

Male Platt with similar lump

About 2 weeks ago i noticed a small raised bump near the tail fin of my male Platy. Same color as his scales slightly raised underneath. I made a note to keep an eye on it. Well today it looks as if it has ruptured or something. It looks like something is hanging out but i think its part of him. I dont know and need help to identify and treat this problem. Please help. Thanks. All of the water parameters are good. Note: it did not look white until it ruptured. Ive dealt with ich before and i don't believe this is ich. He is acting normal just a worried fish lover here.

We’d be happy to help but you should make your own thread since this may or may not be the same issue as described by op.
