Mollies biting at the heater

Have some Dalmatian mollies that keep going between the heater and the glass and biting on the heater. I had one that stayed there for so ling it looks like a burn on its head. Any idea on how to get them to stay away from the heater or what they could be biting at?

You can get a heater guard that slips over the heater to help prevent fish lying against it.

A slime coating of micro-organisms will form over time on most surfaces in the tank - mollies will scrape this off with their adapted mouths - very nutritious it is too

yeah or algae....good thing mollies have no teeth Your heater will be fine....my girls stick their fingers in my molly tank, they love the way it tickles
