i have a bunch of drapefin barbs (oreichthys cosuatis or umangii--depending on what source you read). they are whitish silver which gets a little goldish at the head. the males have these beautiful gold and black speckled long flowing dorsal fins (really nice looking fish). yesterday, i noticed one of the males has a very red round looking object underneath the skin on the top of his head--between 1/16 and 1/8" in diameter--the fish itself is about an inch. it's not sticking out of the skin--it seems to be inside the fish--sort of where i imagine its brain might be... i wish i could provide a picture, but i just can't seem to get them to come out...
btw--these are the fish that i believe brought ich into the tank. i'm currently in the third week of heat treatment.
tank parameters
temp: between 88 and 90 degrees
ph: 7.0
kh: 10dkh
nh3: 0
no2: 0
no3: 12.5
po4: 2
co2 injection
dosing with macros and micros
any ideas?
