One of my female guppies died last night for no apparent reason. Can a fish die from complications due to pregnancy? It would either be that or an internal infection i couldnt notice. I suspected she was preg b/c she was steadily getting fatter and more aggressive. But she was still active until I turned off the light for the night. This morning she was dead. I checked the water earlier that day(yesterday) and everything was perfect. And all my other fish are active and full colored. Any thoughts?

test results
ammo 0
nitrites 0
nitrates 5ppm
gH 20 ppm
kH 10 ppm
pH 7.0

Thanks for your thoughts

Ian

YEs guppies can die from pregnancy. They are livebearers so the baby is inside of it. It could easily die so it should be better to keep it in another tank.

Hope that helps in the future

Sorry for your loss.

I had a swordtail that died before she gave birth.
