I got a 55g tank monday, and it came with a good sized angel (fish in question), a 5 or 6 inch rainbow shark, a 5 inch BN and 1 red minor tertra. Everyone seems to be doing fine, except i noticed the angel's tail appears to have some fin rot, and his anal fin is splitting. It was fine yesterday, as ive been motitoring air bubbles that were on his tail and anal fin from moving... the bubbles are gone, but now this has happened. Its a 55g, 79*, .25 ammo, 0 trItes, 10-20 trAtes. The tank was gross when i got it. The gravel, which i removed before filling the tank, was full of black water and gunk... as well as finding 4 sets of gill plates from fish who had died and been left to rot in the tank. Any clue as to what is causing this!!! Any help is appreciated.

Oh gosh, I have angels with split fins/tail. My advice would be, treat with melafix, and keep water extra clean to help clear it up.. I'm not sure what causes it, I think I've been advised it can be a nutrition deficiency, but I'm not confident enough to say really, could it be fin rot?

Isnt fin rot. I was told it could ba from going to bad water to good. The rainbow sharks tail has some splits 2, but both fish are healing rapidly. I got stress coat 2day, just for good measure

Oh that sounds good, fingers crossed they continue to heal fast :)
