new guppies

I got 6 new fish for my tank at night and by morning a guppy was dead. So I took it into to the store with a water sample and they gave me a new fish because my water was not what caused it to die. So I got the new guppy and in the next couple days that one was dead too. I want to know what could of caused them to die. In the tank I have an angel, and algae eater, two platies, and two others.

Did you cycle? Is it the 10 gallon?

I am assuming its your water parameters, I would recommend going out and getting a liquid test kit, preferably the API master test kit to test your water (most petstores use test strips which are highly inaccurate ). The ammonia and/or nitrite is the one killing your guppies, I would recommend doing Partial water changes every day until your parameters go down to 0 (exept nitrAte, it should be at 5-20)

Another of whats killing your guppies could be your angelfish or algae eater (Depending on what it is, is it a Chinese algae eater?). Angelfish need 30 gallons or more and could get aggressive in cramped spaces.

Thanks it ending up being the ammonia levels spiked, and it killed the fish.

You should probably begin doing 50% PWC everyday until the tank is cycled or you can expect more deaths.

And definately get your own API master test kit.
