Hi all,

I am very new to fishkeeping and am off to a bumpy start.

About 4 weeks ago we purchased a Fluval flex 9 gallon tank for my 2 year old. The plan was to have a guppy only tank but after speaking with a few fish enthusiasts we decided to have 6 male guppies and 2 pepper corydora's.

Here is what we have done so far:
Week one (no fish):
Cycle water using the fallowing products
Nutrafin - cycle ( 3 day treatment)
Nutrafin - waste control (1 treatment)
Nutrafin - aqua plus (1 treatment)

Week two
Added 6 male guppies and 2 pepper corydora's
Added a heater to keep water at 78°F

Week three
Changed 25% of the water with new water.
Added nutrafin - Aqua plus to condition new water only.

We are now week four and I have noticed that my pepper corydora's have developed what I think may be ick (see attached photo) as I can see little white granular spots on both of the fish. I think one of my guppies might be affected also but it is hard to tell.

Can I please ask for a confirmation and some advice from my community members?

Thanks in advance,

Looks like ick.
When attempting a fish in cycle, multiple water changes a week is what's needed with Seachem Prime as a dechlorinator. I find this works well.

Get some Kordon's Rid Ich. If you want to go the heat and water change route just DM me and I'll help you out.

Hey again,

So my fish cycle wasn't near finished but I believe I am on the right path.

I have been doing regular 25% water changes every two days to try and keep the ammonia down and the water is now cloudy/milky and sadly I lost my 2 corydora's.

Here are my water parameters as of now

Ph - 7.0
Ammonia - 0.25
Nitrite - 0.50 ppm
Nitrate - 5 ppm

I have attached a photo of the actual test tubes just incase I miss read any of the results.

Can someone confirm that I am on the right path or of I should be doing anything extra to help the cycle complete.

Thanks in advance for your help.
