So my Oranda goldfish twice now has decided to swim behind my internal filter in his tank and of course has twice gotten stuck. Obviously not the brightest fish in the sea ;)

Anyways on the second round when I rescued him I noticed a small patch of scales got scratched (his bright orange color got scratched off to show white scales) in the process of him trying to squirm out. He seems perfectly fine in behaviour so I just want to make sure that the scratch isn't an issue I need to address quickly.

Thanks!

Any body damage to fish requires clean fresh water. If your water parameters aren't ok then any wounds could become infected.

Keep up PWC until the problem area gets better.

I agree as well- healthy water is a must here. I am curious what size tank he is in and what type of filtration you have for this tank. The ony internal filters (vs a hob or canister) I know of are meant for very small tanks.
