Sorry to hear about your angel. Do you have a test kit? What are your readings for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? More info will help us help you. If you don't have a test kit often lfs will do free water tests.

Hi THODGES,

In "You and Your Aquarium" by D. Mills
An abnormal swimming pattern or difficulty in maintaining equilibrium may be due to:
- a congenitally deformed swim-bladder,
- cancer or tuberculosis in organs adjaccent to the swim-bladder,
- constipation,
- poor nutrition,
- chilling,
- serious parasitic infestations,
- serious bacterial infections.

If you suspect swim-bladder problems, you should first check and treat it for other diseases. If you have eliminated other causes, make sure you are giving the right food and make sure the fish is passing feces normally. If in any doubt, feed live food as roughage. Finally check that the temperature is stable and at the right level for your fish.

I hope this helps.

We had a member with a simular issue but I think in their case the angel was tail heavy in that it kept swimming with its tail down.

My inital thought is Swim Blatter problem.
