Pop Eye - Bug Eye?

A male mollie lyretail has developed popeye, (we think that's what it's called). Water tests fine, tank is partitioned, (We have a dozen new fry). Salts been added. All other fish appear to be fine. Temp. running 76F. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. We use a "test strip" that examines a variety of water characteristics. All are showing acceptable levels. Again, all other fish including two other mollies, both female, are fine.

Pop-eye can be caused by poor tank conditions, which it sounds like is not the case for you. It can also be a sign of an internal parasite. I would quarentine and treat with meds ASAP if you want to help the survival of this fish.

Aquariums are like jello - there's always room for more.

Thanks. It appears that the pop-eye is going down a bit. But if it continues for a day we'll put him in a hospital tank and treat.
