removing meds

i have a 5g and i just treated it for ich..

how long do i keep the carbon in the filter to take out the meds? and do i have to rinse the sponge or just leave it be?

I would just leave the carbon until it is no longer active. Carbon lasts about 2-3 weeks (I think).

Yep, thats how I always do it just leave the carbon in a few weeks till it becomes inactive.
