Hi this is my beloved betta Oscar, he lives in a 5 gallon tank with heater, filter and air stone set on low ( no heavy flow in water) he also has a tank mate Simon who is a mystery snail. I’ve been treating him for what I believe is fin rot. On his tail it almost looked burned and noticed a small bubble where the black is. I’m been using API Pimafix and API bettafix for two weeks and I haven’t seen improvement. On a positive he still seems himself very active and eats well. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas much appreciated?

API makes 3 medications (antibiotics) that will treat it. E.m. erythromycin, furan-2, and fin and body cure (doxycycline). It's treatable, and not too late. Make sure the tank he's in stays very clean. Treat for 2 rounds per directions on box. Bettafix and melafix are the same thing. Those 2 and pimafix are more like an antiseptic than a curative. They work great for preventing, but once you see signs it's prob too late for those. On a down note, antibiotics will prob kill your aquarium cycle, so while treating him per the directions, watch your water parameters too.
