Hey, I finished my cardinal school today, and it seems that one of them has a white patch on his head. My first two thoughts are either fungus or hole in the head, but I'm not sure. It's not "spongy" or stringy that I usually associate with fungus, and I'm unfamiliar with hole in the head.

Thanks

PICS

These two were the best ones. These things are darn hard to focus on because of their colors

It is kind of hard to tell...Kind of looks like an injury to me. Possibly from netting etc. Keep your water super clean....extra water changes...daily if possible and see if it gets better. How is the ammonia in the tank?

0-0-20ish. I think we decided on
Columnaris

I think I'm taking the fish back to the store, and it is likely they'll euthanize it...I just don't think I'm in a position to take care of a fish with a likely fatal disease like this.
