One of my silver dollars appears to have a fungus on his body. I saw one spot this morning and now there are 5. Kinda cottony looking. i don't have a hospital tank but will be getting one as soon as payday.

Can i use Jungle Fungus Clear in the tank with my other fish? I know I need to remove the carbon.

36 gal tank
Whisper filter
1 common pleco
2 silver dollars
4 neon tetras
2 cory cats
1 inca orange snail

Thank you for any help you can give!!

I think it's better to make a QT tank. And yes you should take out the carbon to allow the medecine to work better instead of being absorbed into it.

Please help us to help you by answering these questions in detail, thank you.
1~What type of fish is afflicted? In addition, please describe what is wrong with the fish to the beset of your ability (i.e. cotton like growth, bloated, etc.).
2~What are your tank parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, temp, pH)? Please give exact values.
3~ How large is the tank? How long has the tank been set up?
4~What type of filtration are you using? Please give the name and number (i.e. Fluval 304) and amount of gph if known.
5~How many fish are in the tank? What kinds of fish are they and what are there current sizes?
6~When is the last time you did a water change and vacuum the gravel? How often do you do this? How much water do you remove at a time?
7~How long have you had the fish? If the fish is new, how did you acclimate it/them?
8~Have you added anything new to the tank--decor, new dechlorinator, new substrate, etc.?

Yes, you can use meds with other fish in the tank, its not ideal unless you suspect tankmates of possible infection, but still do'able.

Yes, remove carbon from filters before medicating.

A 5-10 gal bucket with a airstone and a heater can make a quick emergency quarantine tank, as will a storage bin. Just make sure they haven't been used for any chemicals and are washed very well first.

Unless the infection is bad or really bad, your judgement, I'd recommend removing carbon and adding both Mela and Pimafix, with a dose of salt to the entire tank. these are natural remedies not meds and no chance of harming bio-bacteria.
