at first my tetra started with a bit of white around fin edge and eventually ate away the whole tail. also his body became super skinny but he fed well. he is now dead can anyone tell me what disease this is my other neon and cardinal tetras are starting to get skinny with white tips on fins. my guppies are fine

Hard to tell when it's dead, unfortunately... Could be any number of types of fungus: fin rot, columnaris, sapro, etc.
Columnaris and Sapro are pretty hard to diagnose, but here's a good article on them as well as how to treat them: Columnaris (Flexibacteria) in Aquarium Fish; Fungus, Saprolegnia; Treatment, Prevention
If it's just fin rot then clean water (daily water changes) and aquarium salt should do the trick.
