hello, I live in germany and I had two female rope fish with an age of >7 years.
within of 4 days, both have died inexplicably. both had stopped eating in the last 7 days and were rather apathetic. I fed her with frozen artemia, frozen red
mosquito larvae and with earthworm bits and possibly made her sick with them, because this was the last food. I fed every 3 days.
in the last days I made an intensive sera baktopur direct bath.
the first fish is frozen and the last one I have now dissected.
it was full of eggs, the blood was black, it was
12 hours dead.
Because of the stench, I wasn't able to dissect it any further.
from anal fin to first 10cm it was full of eggs, there was no intact body part till first 10cm, which I have not opened.
the european sea water eel, have it body parts to the middle, with anal outlet too. but the rope fish it has at the end. but again, there was NO intact body part to find! only eegs, IS THAT NORMAL ?!
Is there anyone here who has also dissected a rope fish and can say something about the physique or even have photos?
