upside down rainbowfish

I just did my weekly 50% PWC on my 55 gallon tank. ( I've been really busy lately so its been 12 days since the last one) my largest rainbow went from being totally fine before to after swimming upsidedown and panting for air at the surface. Now about 30 minutes after he is upsidedown on the bottom with my Iranian rainbow freaking out beside him. They often swim together. My temperature did not fluctuate more than a degree during the water change and I added prime as usual. All other fish seem fine.

Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates ~10
Ph 8

Other stock is
2 other boesmani rainbows
1 Iranian rainbow
1 bn pleco
1 leopard ctenepoma
8 black skirts

I know I should have more rainbows but camalanus worms sipped out the rest of the school and now 3-4 months after last treatment with no more signs of worms I will soon be adding more.

What wrong with my rainbow guys?
What is the correct number of aquariums an enthusiast should own. X+1 X being the current number of tanks you have.
