URGENT! What is this unhsually-colored spot on my molly?

He's brand new and actually translucent, so his pink gills don't worry me. However, he has one spot that's bigger than the rest and is brown, not black. It's right behind his pec fin, sorry for the bad picture but he won't keep still.
He's eating and swimming just fine, and the spot doesn't look raised, but I don't want him in the tank if he's contagious, but I don't want him stuck in that cup for much longer! (No, I do not have a quarantine tank, this is my mom's community aquarium and she doesn't want to get another tank)

I can't really tell what the spot looks like in the pic but he looks perfectly healthy to me.. If it were red or white I would be concerned.. But probably just part of his coloration
