what happened to his fin?

I have a black swordtail and I looked today and one of his "arms" is half missing!!!!! 8O Who in my tank could have done this? Have I mixed fish that shouldn't live together? I thought I had done a good job of building a community but I guess two of my fish aren't getting along. Thanks for any input!

Sounds like it may have been nipped-off. Is there any sign of white or fuzz on the remaining fin?

I know some swords can be very territorial when they get older (Males) my sister had one.. they will attack anything on thier turf, have you seen any agression?

The gouramis are quite alot bigger so maybe they are the culprits although they usually keep to themselves as far as I have seen.
There is no white or fuzz. What does it mean if there is though just so I can watch for anything?
It is a female that has half her "arm" bitten off. I have two females and one male. Maybe that is the problem??

Fuzz or white could indicate a bacterial or fungal infection....just keep an eye on it until it begins to grow back.
