Question What is this black stuff?

Ok I would never have guessed there are so many things that can happen with fish!!! My daughter has gotten a few of her mollies from a friend a few months ago. recently One of them looked funny, and upon closer inspection I noticed its eyes were quite buldgy and there were black sticks of fuzz poking off of it all over its body.... ?!?! We humainly euthinized the fish in hopes to prevent a outbreak or spreading, but im wondering if others do show up with it what it might be and how I might treat it?!?! TIA!!
