My friends brought over their parrot fish because the big one was getting slaughtered by their cichlids. He seems to be doing better in my community tank since they brought him last night. He's getting more confident and eating but look at his coloring. Why is one side of him going white???

I believe that this is because it has been dipped in ink and the colour is wearing off, unless it hasn't been dipped in which case it's losing its colour as its becoming an adult, could be something else but I think it's that

Really? This is my first experience with parrot fish so I thought they were all that beautiful orange color. I'm learning something here. At least you don't think he's sick. I was afraid he was dying or something. I can handle him just losing his coloring. My friends will be surprised to see him looking strange though.

They usually are but some are dyed that colour, some are naturally orange

I don't know how but he actually looks better this afternoon and is coming out more to check out his quarters.

Could have been stress, so good news, it wasn't dipped

Yeah, tonight he's even looking and acting like a normal fish!! LOL!!! He's swimming all over the tank like he lives there all the time. I'm glad, looks like he's going to recover physically and mentally!!
