Wounded Khuli Loach

Hi all,

Two wounds have appeared on the underside of one of our khuli loaches. We have isolated him in a hospial tank with aquarium salt and anti-fungal treatment in the water. Can anyone help us diagnose exactly what is wrong with him from the picture attached so we can better target our treatment?

Hi! Did these wounds appear overnight or are they something that has gradually been getting worse? What type of antifungal med did you add? My suggestion would be to treat with a gram negative antibiotic in addition to methylene blue applied directly or as a daily bath but antibiotics are restricted to veterinary use in your country. If he is in a hospital tank & you dont mind it being stained, you can add meth blue directly to the tank in addition to the salt (after removing the antifungal product). Your other option is to enlist the aid of aquatic vet for help.
