I bought three new baby zebra danios about a year ago to keep Hershey, also a zebra danio, happy because Hershey's partner died. Before, the babies were only a third the size of Hershey, so Hershey had to chase away the larger fish in order to keep the babies safe.
Now, the babies are almost just as large as Hershey. Just yesterday, I noticed all three babies chasing after Hershey, nipping at her sides. Everything was fine until now. At first I didn't do anything, because I just assumed they were playing, as zebra danios do. But then I came back to the tank this morning, and the babies are still chasing Hershey. Hershey is panting very hard.
Maybe they are challenging the pecking order? Please help
