algae id, please

This algae is confined to one rock in our 45 gallon aquarium. We've scrubbed it mostly off with a toothbrush, and then it returned in about a 2 week period.

TY for the id. That's what we were thinking too, but we have a variety of snails and a couple of hermit crabs that aren't touching it. What would you reccommend?
 
I have never seen anything eat the long stuff like that, though some say their snails ate it. Google your issue and you'll find people that killed it off by raising magnesium levels. Reducing your feeding and doing water changes to lower nutrient levels is the only other thing I would recommend.
