Anemone ID

Hi just wondering if I can get an ID on this anemone. I bought it as a condy anemone but someone has told me it isn't a condy anemone but a pink tip anemone. Just want to verify.

Also I read that scarlet reef crabs can't be kept with them. Is this true in all cases? I have one I bought as a "red leg" and I'm not sure if there's a difference but I can put him into my other tank.







Also any other tips for keeping it happy and healthy?

Well, it looks more like a pink tip actually, which is a Hatian anemone.

Yeah, I agree with that. Defiantly looks more like a pink tip Haitian anemone.

As for the red leg hermit, do you think I should take it out?

He's starting to settle and hopefully find his spot.

looks like a bleached condy to me.

That's their natural colour. It's an extremely healthy anemone.

but they are both condylactis species, so the lfs wasn't incorrect, just not specific

I know right. The Haitian one has the more pronounced purple tips and is thicker which is like mine so I'm assuming that's what it is at the moment lol.

He seems to have found a really nice spot in a crevice and is looking to be fully extended.



And I know this isn't a hosting anemone but one of my clownfish has been pretty interested in it. Hmm.



I'm a little concerned if the clownfish tries to host the anemone....

I had a saddleback clown host a condy before. He should be fine if he decides to host it.

Any type of hosting behavior is dependent on the anemone. If it isn't down, then it won't happen. There are some clowns that are more likely to form a relationship with some anemone where others will not.
Either way, as someone who isn't a big fan of condy, that is a really nice one. I think that the 'thicker' tentacles are what have me sold on that guy. Good luck with him, hosting or not.

I never expected them to host it when I bought it I just really liked the anemone and had bad luck with my last one so figured I would try this one. It was $24.99 and I couldn't pass it up lol.

I've just never seen my clownfish show interest in anything before besides food lol. Right now every time the clownfish tries to get close the two chromis are being jerks and chasing them away but they keep coming back which is what is making me wonder.

I don't need to worry about the anemone.. eating the clowns right? I read something about them not being from the same area and the anemone seeing the clowns as food. But I think that would only be the case of my clowns were unhealthy and slow but they're not. They're extremely healthy.

I had one of these before, it cost me 9.99 at a LFS.
Usually clown don't host these, they tend to host certain kind and size. It also depends on the types of clown. Not all will host.

They won't eat the clown
