bad shrimp

I've been reading a bit about pistol shrimp and other uninvited pests. If I crate live rock out of sandstone, would I eliminate the chance of getting them?

What I have read suggests they enter your tank via intro of living rock purchases.

Sandstone isn't the best choice for making life rock...If you want to avoid critters coming into your tank from live rock, then simply get base or macro rock. Basically, live rock becomes live over time when you cycle your tank.
