Diatom Bloom

2 months ago I added some new live sand and this stuff started appearing immediately and won't go away. I even cut my lighting. I used to have it on for 10 hours. Now maybe 5, and some maybe 2 days a week I don't turn it on at all to get rid of it. What can I do?? I also do pwc every 10 days and suction out the top layer of sand. What should I do??? I use boxed real ocean water from Petco and top off with distilled water. Keep feeding to a minimum. Click image for larger version

You added more silicates to your tank. Once they are gone, the diatoms will go as well. Diatoms aren't a sign of water quality like cyanobacteria would be.
