Emerald Crab Molt or Dead Crab

This post isn't to ask a question but to give some information. I found what I was convinced was a dead emerald crab. It looked so complete that I was sure it was dead. It had its hairy legs, its claws, and what I thought were its eyes. I could only find one emerald crab in the tank even though I have two. After letting it sit I took it out of the tank to literally dissect it to find out if it was a molt or the real deal. Even that itself was not convincing. It wasn't hollow like I thought it would be.

All that to say, I thought I lost an emerald crab only to find him still in the tank later on.

The lesson: it is really hard to tell if it is a molt or the real deal. If you think it is a dead crab it may in fact be just a molt.
