Hi again,

I figured I'd toss this one out for ID too. These two mushrooms since expired, but beforehand they got a case of the "frills" for a week or so prior. I asked around and so far I got that they were worms or buds. Since they both died, I don't think they were buds and no other mushrooms were affected since.

Thank you so much for any help with my little mystery here...

Mesentery filaments - a sign of stress, or serious warfare. I don't think that's a normal thing for mushrooms though. Had these been in your tank long? Or just been injured or attacked by a neighboring coral?

Interesting, thank you!

I don't think it could have been another coral...it's pretty far from the others. I did have a damsel that I found ripping up some polyps before I relocated him to another tank. Wonder if he maybe harassed this too?

I had them about 3 weeks before it started and they were the two larger mushrooms on the rock of 8. All others are doing fine and never had anything. So sad...
