It's hard to tell perspective from the photo. He's about 3 inches fully extended.

Gorilla crab I believe..They say you can tell by hairy legs ?Especially at 3 inches!

That is a red mathrax crab. Similar to the green variety that people think are good clean up crew members. Crabs in general are opportunists and will eat a meal when/if they see fit.

Thanks for the ID. I got the live rock from Tampa Bay and they are known for gorilla hitchhikers. Mithrax I can cope with!

If bad hitchhikers is something you are concerned with, before you put the rock into your system you should dunk it into a bucket of freshwater. Whatever is inside will come flying out.
